The Importance of the Warm-up Period

The warm-up period prior to practicing or playing a match is extremely important. How you feel after the warm period will directly affect the success of your play on that particular day. Players usually concentrate on grooving their strokes. What they should be concentrating on is getting their footwork up to speed. Movement is the name of the game.  Work those feet to get in the proper position for every ball you hit in the warm-up. Try to stay light on your feet by keeping your heels off the court during the period that you are in the ready position.  Keep your eyes on the ball and move quickly to achieve good positioning for every return.  Tennis is a lower body sport. Every tennis player loves the feel of a well hit ball.  Good footwork is the medium to achieve solid shot making.
