Improving the Consistency and Accuracy of your Shots

21 Apr 2006

For more accurate shots lenghten the time your racquet is in contact with the ball

For a more consistent and powerful forehand, drive your racquet through the ball towards your target. Visualize the face of your racquet following the path of the ball towards the target area. Off center and frame shots often occur when players fail to step into the ball and transfer their weight forward.  These players try to drive the ball by using their upper body.  This motion shortens the time the racquet is on the ball and changes the contact point as the racquet moves prematurely to the finishing position over the shoulder. Your shots will become more accurate and achieve greater depth if you step into the ball and lengthen the path your racquet takes towards the target area.
