Many great athletes have said that it is not the winning that is most important to them. Rather they savor the challenge of competition. They like to match their wits and skills against other competitors. Arnold Palmer was quoted as saying that he was not afraid to lose, nor did he feel that he needed to win. His goal was just to compete against the best competition as well as he could. With this type of mental attitude good things will happen because you are not subjecting yourself to overwhelming expectations and intense pressure.
