When hitting a forehand or backhand try to concentrate on shifting your weight forward by stepping forward into the court when making contact. Imagine your racquet following the ball after contact or your racquet reaching out to the target area. Many players go to their finish too soon. These players are usually upper body hitters. They swing their racquets without shifting their weight forward. There are different ways to shift your weight forward. Among these are the classic style of stepping forward with your front foot and the more modern method of pivoting your back foot into the court. The important key is that your shift your weight and extend your contact time on the ball.
