  • Location: Centre Court Tennis Club - East Providence, RI
  • Time:  8:30AM - 1:15PM
  • Age Group 7 - 17 years old
  • Tournament Cost - $44.00 (tournament draw is limited, register early).
  • Type of tournament - round robin consisting of singles and a possible doubles match.
  • Youngsters are grouped by ability level and separated into divisions. Players play opponents in their division. The player with the most points(games won) wins the division. This format attempts to give every player a reasonable chance of winning their division. 
  • Awards will be presented to winners.
  • Snacks and drinks will be provided.
  • Raffle for prizes at the conclusion.

Guide to evaluating your youngsters playing level

Beginner  
Can rally but has inconsistent serve. May have to bounce
and hit to serve ( ages 7 - 10 )
  

Advanced Beginner
Can sustain a rally of 3-4 shots.  Ball is hit  with moderate pace.  Player is beginning to be able to direct his/her shots.  Serve is consistent but without substantial pace. Playing strategy is minimal.

Intermediate 
Is more consistent than the advanced beginner. Has good court coverage.  Serve is consistent and has some pace. Player can approach net and execute a volley. Directional control is evident. Beginning to analyze opponent's shots and develop a match strategy. If the player is of high school age, he/she is probably playing doubles in Div. 1 or 2 or singles in Div. 3 or 4.

Advanced
This player can hit shots with both consistency and power. Has begun to master use of spin. Can successfully execute shots such as the lob, drop shot,overhead. Has excellent footwork and covers the court well. First serve is consistent with moderate pace. Can analyze opponent's game and implement a match strategy. If the player is of high school age, he/she is probably playing singles in Div. 1 or 2. If this player is younger he/she is probably playing USTA  tournaments.
