The purpose of this association was to organize and grow competitive adult tennis leagues in RI. This association eventually evolved into what is now called USA Tennis RI, a member organization of the United States Tennis Association. George served as the association’s first president and still serves on the Board of Directors. He also was a delegate to the USA Tennis NE Board of directors. George also served on various USA Tennis/NE boards and was the Head USTA verifier for RI for 10 years. This position involved evaluating the playing skills of adults entering the USTA leagues and placing them in the appropriate divisions.

George’s first venture into teaching tennis began in 1992 when he convinced the Board of Directors of RITPA to sponsor some free tennis instruction to area youngsters. Naturally, since he proposed the program, he was the one mandated to organize, implement and teach it. He used the style of teaching that he learned at Van Der Meer Tennis.  The program was an immediate success that launched George on his full time tennis-teaching career.
